The position on the road between Lucca and the Lake of Massaciuccoli
is ideal for trips in the close town of art or to the well-known
beaches of Versilia.
For people who love trekking and mountain bike there is
the possibility of reaching picturesque villlages on the
nearby hills, from which to enjoy a wonderful panoramic
view: Mommio Castello, Corsanico, Bargecchia, Balbano, Pieve
a Elici, Montigiano and Gualdo.
But the real attraction of the area is the beautiful little
village of Massaciuccoli with ruines of the ancient Roman
period. Witnesses of intense activities in ceramics that
go back to the second and third century B.C. find place
of honour in the municipal museum as well as the rests of
baths and Roman Villas. From Massaciuccoli you can reach
the panoramic points of Compignano and Aquilata Mountain
walking through the wood.
On request, the owners of 'Frantoio del monte' may guide
hosts through walks to the nearby hills.
